OnePlus is a premium smartphone company emphasizing on making smartphones with flagship specs & features at a very competitive price like none in the market. This Chinese company is responsible for creating a whole new segment in the smartphone market called the ‘budget flagship’ segment.

The Bezel-less Display

The company actively teasing about the OnePlus 6, a case company listed its case for the new mobile online leaving no sides unseen. The whole design can be seen from it. Six case renders surfaced ranging from the snap-on case, tough cases to see-through cases. The following image is a very clear picture of the new design of the OnePlus 6.
The front is adorned with an enormous screen and that is all you can see excluding a small notch on the top. Yeah

OnePlus too want to take up the notch to extend the display to all corners. The back is considerably all glass with dual cameras stacked vertically. A dual-led flash accompanies the camera modules in the center followed by a rectangle Finder print reader to match the looks.

Notch was earlier revealed in the leaks ahead of specs but when the official teaser for the presence of notch was given, not many fans were happy about it. Some even started bashing OnePlus in social media. Then a few days later they made an announcement to the fan community that whether or not to have the notch is up to the user, meaning they can black out the notch if they wish.

The display is expected to have the tall 19:9 aspect ratio inclusive of the notch taking cues from the 1000 dollar smartphone. The display size, as from the leaks has grown furthermore from OnePlus 5T’s 5.99 inches to 6.28 Inches sporting a similar OLED panel. The resolution is not rising as seen in the leaks, the good old FullHD+. OnePlus has finally opted-out of the all-metal design to be replaced by glass. This time it is the glass sandwich design with metals running around the edges holding the glass piece together.

OnePlus has been stubborn on not adding up any half-baked, gimmicky or extravagant features to their smartphones like 2k display, wireless charging and so on. But the introduction of glass back speculates they are ready for the wireless charging feature this time.

OnePlus have been trying out something new on the camera department with every iteration of the phone. This time we are out of guesses. But by the rumors, it has a primary 16 MP (f/1.7, 27mm, 1/2.8″, 1.12 µm, gyro EIS). The secondary camera is the 20 MP camera to provide its assistance in portrait mode shots and low light shots. Every iteration of OnePlus has a good record of overdoing the older siblings. Hence something new is expected to be seen. The positioning of the dual cameras is found at the centre similar to OnePlus 2.

OnePlus have toped in the performance ranking and speed test rankings with the top of the line specs. The top of the line specs includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which is the best from Qualcomm. The RAM in recent iterations is overwhelming which makes the transitions buttery smooth. The same is carried over this time around with 6 and 8 Gb option against 128 and 256 Gb storage options.

The leaked benchmark score prove the above spec sheet. The AnTuTu score is around 276,000 and the GeekBench score for the single-core is 2546 and multicore is 8672. OnePlus usually provide software updates to their device at least for 2 years.

The battery is not expected to grow or shrink for the newer variant.

Release Date

The phone usually releases every year in the month of June. The same is expected to happen in June 2018. But there are also hints of earlier releases- stocks of previous gen OnePlus 5T is not available in North America anymore and Carl Pei, CEO of OnePlus has also started teasing the features in social media. So this time for breaking the competition, OnePlus will release in a while or so.

Our Opinion

OnePlus the king of the budget flagship segment can be bought without second thoughts if you are a die-hard fan of the native Android OS. But newer and worthier contenders seem to come in nowadays from Huawei and Xiaomi. So, OnePlus need to be competitive in price even after adding some special features. Let us see how that fairs in the market pretty soon.
