26th January is celebrated as Republic Day all over India every year. In 1947, India got her freedom against British Empire. On 26th January 1950, India made her own constitution and become a republic nation. The word republic stands for a country that is ruled by people, elected by the people of that nation.

Every year 26th January has been celebrated as Republic day. This is India’s national festival and also declared as national holiday every year. We would be celebrating 67th Republic day of India this year.

This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm in New Delhi and all over India. A special parade is being held on this very special day. All three armed forces take part in this parade. The President of India takes salute from the armed forces. The President unfurls the National Flag along with the chief guest from foreign country.

Folk dances are held .Student from various colleges and schools march in precision and sing National Song “Jana Gana Mana”.Then there is a colorful fly past of aero planes which made a beautiful tri-color ‘Tiranga’ with colors in the air.

Then the President of India distributes the awards amongst brave and courageous people.

At night all the government buildings are illuminated and the people move out to watch the beautiful sight.(Essay in 200 words)

 The Republic Day of India is one of the biggest national festivals of India. So it’s being celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India. As New Delhi is the capital of India so republic day is celebrated at India gate, New Delhi every year.

People come from the various parts of the country to see the celebrations on this very special day. Early in the morning, people assemble at Raj Path to watch the Parade being held by three armed forces of India. This parade starts from Rajpath to Red Fort.

The President of India unfurls the national flag “Tiranga” along with the chief guest from the foreign country. Then the President takes salute from the soldiers of Army,Navy and Air Force.

They are followed by tableaux form the different states of India. They depict a true picture of the life and customs and traditions of the people of the respective state and the progress they have made after independence.

A majority of national awards such as Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan and Kirti Chakra are awarded during the Republic Day ceremony by the President.

The 66th Republic day celebration ceremony in India was held on 26th January, 2015. Barack Obama, 44thPresident of the Unites States of America, was invited as foreign chief guest to attend the ceremony by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is expected that the chief guest of Republic Day of India in 2016 may be the French President Francois Hollande but it is yet to confirm.
