The Dimple girl of Bollywood and the queen of hearts, Deepika Padukone is multi talented personality as hard as a sportsperson and versatile as a charming actress. She was born on 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is a true reflection of her parents.

Being a daughter of badminton champion Prakash Padukone she inherited a true spirit of a sportsperson and versatility from her mother Ujjala, who by profession is a travel agent. She had a sporty background as her  grandfather Ramesh was secretary at Mysore Badminton Association. Her sister, Anisha is a golfer by profession.

Deepika did her schooling from Sophia high School Bangalore as there parents shifted to Bangalore when she was a year old. Her pre-degree education was from Mount Carmel College and she subsequently applied for Bachelor of Arts degree from IGNOU but she discontinued her education because she had dream in her eyes to shine in Indian Cinema. Just because of her hard work she is able to fulfill her dream and now she is  the most demanded actress of Bollywood.

Deepika Padukone admitted that in her childhood she does not have much friends and was introvert by nature. On footprints of her father her goal of life was badminton and with strong desire to succeed. She played badminton at a very early age. Her childhood went through a lot of physical training, schooling and side by side she played badminton at many national level tournaments. She also played basketball for many state level tournaments as well.

A very balanced person by nature she maintained a balance between her sports life and cinematic life as in her childhood she worked as a child artist for many advertising crusades. It was till the age of eight and when she was in tenth grade, she finally decided to be a Fashion model, her father being a sportsperson supported deepika in her decision rather than forcing her to be in the game.

Deepika Padukone gain gratitude from many T.V commercials for many brands and products. He was awarded as “Model Of The Year” at Kingfisher Fashion Awards. At the age of 21, she came to Mumbai and became famous after her music video “Naam hai tera” opposite Himesh Reshammia and that proved to be a turning point in her career because after that video deepika began to receive film offers.

Deepika padukone’s Bollywood debut was Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, in which she was caste opposite The King Khan of bollywood Shahrukh Khan. In that movie she played a role of 1970’s actress-shantipriya and a modern girl-sandy. She showed her talent in that movie by performing the role of two opposites personalities and worked hard for her roles.

Om shanti Om was a blockbuster. And she got Best Female Debut Award in annual filmfare ceremony and her first nomination in best actress category. After that she got her role in “Bachna Ae haseeno” under Yash Raj Banner opposite Ranbir kapoor with her co-actors Bipasha basu and Minnisha Lamba. This movie also was a great success but Namrata joshi of Outlook said that deepika lack fire and zing.


In 2009, She came opposite Akshay Kumar in “Chandini Chowk to China” which proved to be a failure in deepika’s career. She had a double role in this movie and for her role she learned Japanese martial arts form jujutsu. The same year she came in an item number opposite to Shahrukh khan in movie “Billu”. Her next movie was opposite Saif ali Khan in Imitiaz Ali’s “Love Aaj Kal“, This movie proved a breakthrough in deepika’s success stories as this movie made others believe that deepika is strong and definitive.

To be a part of Vijay Lalwani’s “Karthik calling Karthik” was her bad decision as this movie performed poorly in this movie she was opposite to Farhan akhtar.

Her next decision was Sajid Khan’s “Housefull” was very profitable as it was a financially successful film. Other movies which are part of deepika’s career are “Lafangey Parindey”(2010) opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh in which she played role of a blind girl and “Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se“(2010) opposite to Abhishek bacchan which was based on Do and Die by manini Chatterjee about Chittagong armour raid.

It was a Socio-Political drama with lot of expectation for was flopped on boxoffice. In that year she did an item song in movie “Dum maaro Dum” in remix of song featuring zeenat aman.

Deepika faced a series of flopped films by films Lafangey Parindey, Khelien Hum Jee Jaan Se, Aarakshan and Desi Boyz(2011) which made everyone believe that deepika lost her charm.

In 2012, Homi Adjania’s “Cocktail” marked as a turning point in her career. In which she a role of a extrovert party girl opposite Diana Penty and Saif Ali khan. She played role of a girl named “Veronica” who is an extremely extrovert and a party animal. She did a lot of hard work for that film and she was successful.

After that she gave a series of successful films like Abbas mastan’s “Race 2“, Ayan Mukherji’s “Yeh jawani hai Deewani” opposite to Ranbir kapoor. Rohit Shetty’s “Chennai Express” and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Goliyon ki rasleela-Ramleela“(2013) opposite to Ranvir Singh, All these movies made her an established highly paid and most demanded actress in bollywood.

In 2014 , She featured opposite Rajnikanth in Kochadaiiyan that was shot with motion capture technology. Her next film Homi Adjania’s “Finding Fanny” was screened at 19th busan international  film festival.

Her next blockbuster was Farah Khan’s Happy new year and and shoojit sircar’s “Piku“(2015) Which were a blockbuster hit. Her work was appreciated alot in these films.

In October 2015, Imtiaz Ali’s “Tamasha” Opposite to Ranbir Kapoor releasing in November. She is currently working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Bajirao Mastani” in which she plays Mastani opposite to Ranveer Singh’s as Baji Rao and Priyanka chopra as Kashibai.

This girl has yet far to go and her fans are always desperate for her forthcoming projects and Deepika gives all credit to her parents who supported her in this decision and she achieved what she wanted.
